Child amputees learn to handle teasing and bullying at War Amps Atlantic Seminar

HALIFAX, Aug. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Growing up with an amputation can be challenging, from dealing with staring, teasing and bullying, to the frustrations of not being able to take part in an activity or keep up with peers.  That is why The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program is built on the Winner's Circle philosophy, which encourages young amputees to accept their amputations and develop a positive approach to challenges.

Child amputees from across the Atlantic provinces will have the opportunity to talk about these issues and get practical solutions from older Champs in an open-forum session today at 9 a.m. in the Commonwealth Ballroom of The Westin Nova Scotian, 1181 Hollis Street.  Media are welcome to attend this session, or interviews can be arranged at any time.
