Chilean Innovation Calls Attention Among Canadian Business Leaders
- In a seminar organized by the Chilean Trade Commission Office in Toronto, Canadian entrepreneurs learned about the development of innovation in Chile and the various governmental programs that promote it. In the event also participated Christopher Undurraga, Venture Manager from Corfo, (the Production Fostering Corporation).
TORONTO, Nov. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - "Chilean public policies are very clear and focused on the next phase of development of the country," said one of the seminar attendees organized by ProChile in Toronto, where the key issues were the various policies being developed by the Government of Chile to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
"Not only did we realize that there is much interest on the part of Canada that we settle here to develop our projects, but also we had the opportunity to give clear signs of what Chile is doing on innovation in order to make our country a center of regional innovation and entrepreneurship, "said Juan Antonio Figueroa, Trade Commissioner of ProChile in Toronto.
Among the issues addressed in the seminar were the excellent conditions available in Chile to become a regional hub of entrepreneurship and innovation, the talent that exists in the country and how it stands out from the rest of Latin America, although the needs that remain to be solved.
At the seminar and in the meeting agenda Christopher Undurraga, Corfo venture manager and manager of the innovation agenda of the Government of Chile for 2013 also participated, and he focused on the strategy being implemented by the country to become a regional hub. In this regard Christopher Undurraga covered topics about on details of "the year of innovation" which will take place in Chile in 2013 and the various programs of the Government of Chile in this area, such as the attraction of Centers of Excellence, positioning the R & D Act, Start-Up Chile and ContactChile, among others.
The day ended with a Q&A, where attendees mostly business leaders, had an open dialogue with the exhibitors, about the various programs of the Government of Chile and the formulas to create alliances and make this relationship to remain in time.
Among the various activities and parallel to the seminar, there was a schedule of visits at various Canadian incubators and accelerators to see the interest that exists in attracting Chilean entrepreneurship as a way to use that as a platform and then leap to the U.S. market in New York and the West Coast.
"I think we achieved the objective of this meeting, that Canadians got know about what we are doing and the talent we have. The general feeling was that Chile continues to lead in the region, with strong fundamentals and is concerned about being in the future with enhanced innovation, research and entrepreneurial support" said Juan Antonio Figueroa, Trade Commissioner of ProChile in Toronto.
