OTTAWA, Feb. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Human Rights Commission commends Parliament for its decision to create a special Committee to investigate the urgent matter of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.
"The Canadian Human Rights Commission is deeply concerned about the disproportionate number of Aboriginal women and girls in Canada who are victims of violence and systemic discrimination," Acting Chief Commissioner David Langtry said.
"It is vital that society address this issue," he said, adding that if called on, the Canadian Human Rights Commission would welcome the opportunity to assist Parliamentarians in this important effort.
