MONTRÉAL, Dec. 11, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - For the holiday season, Montréal Space for Life has delights and surprises galore in store, and invites you to take the time to get closer to nature. This will be your last chance to come on a Tropical Adventure in the heart of the Biodôme, for a fun and educational voyage of discovery for visitors of all ages. We're also celebrating Christmas for the animals – you can watch them use their wits to "unwrap" their tasty gifts. Guaranteed fun for the whole family!
Discovery and enjoyment just over the horizon, with a Tropical Adventure
From December 20 to February 8, Commander Macaw, a mascot with a strong resemblance to a parrot, will be welcoming the whole family and especially visitors ages 3 to 8. He's looking forward to leading them on an adventurous journey through the heart of the Biodôme. At the "Beaks and Bandaids" rescue centre, our animal keepers will show them how to feed and care for the animals. They can play, climb and dress up for even more fun. They'll also get a chance to help Tamarin the monkey figure out where the mysterious egg came from, in the What's That Egg? puppet show, a story created by artist and author Valérie Galarneau, inspired by animals in the Biodôme's Tropical Rainforest. Afterward, kids can explore the five ecosystems and learn how to identify the mammals, birds and fish living at the Biodôme.
It's also Christmas for the Biodôme's animals
On December 26, come see the gifts that our keepers have prepared for the animals. They'll have to use all their wits and ingenuity to get at their favourite food inside. In the afternoon, visitors can have fun with our Ani-Challenges, a workshop where they'll make presents for the cotton-top tamarins and macaws in the Tropical Rainforest. It's ideal for children old enough to use scissors. Sign up at the ticket counter between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. (limited to 30 participants). Guaranteed fun for Boxing Day!
Four attractions to keep you entertained over the holiday season
You can see more with the "À la carte" two-site package or the Montréal Space for Life package. Add another Space for Life attraction to your visit, with A Sweet Christmas at the Botanical Garden, the Vertiges and Tempo shows at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium or the Lydie Jean-Dit-Pannel Retrospective: 10 Years Among the Rustling Monarchs at the Insectarium. Enjoy even more discoveries at your own pace, on the same or different days.
Then finish your visit off in style by dropping in to our gift shops, for loads of gift ideas inspired by our collections and nature. It's the perfect place to find those last items on your Christmas list, for example the new Biodôme comic book, featuring the ecomuseum's animal community in all kinds of hilarious situations. And of course you can pick up tickets for your family and friends at the online Space for Life ticket counter at espacepourlavie.ca/billetterie.
Montréal Space for Life is made up of four attractions on the same site: the Botanical Garden, Biodôme, Insectarium and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium. These four prestigious municipal institutions form Canada's largest natural science museum complex. Together, they are launching a daring, creative urban movement, urging everyone to rethink the connection between humankind and nature and cultivate a new way of living.
