TORONTO, Nov. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - CI Investments Inc.'s Portfolio Series was a winner at last night's 2012 Morningstar Canadian Investment Awards, the second consecutive year this investment program was named best in its category.
In addition, Signature High Income Fund was named Best Global Balanced Fund, making it a four-time winner at the Morningstar Canadian Investment Awards.
Portfolio Series, with $7 billion in assets under management, is a family of seven portfolios that provide investors a complete, diversified portfolio with the convenience of a single fund. Portfolio Series was named Best Fund of Funds this year and in 2011, the first year that an award was presented for this category.
"We are pleased to receive industry recognition of Portfolio Series as a best-in-class managed solution," said Derek J. Green, CI President. "The strength of Portfolio Series results from the combination of our outstanding lineup of award‐winning portfolio managers with the expertise of CI Investment Consulting, which manages the program and adds considerable value through portfolio construction, asset allocation and risk management."
Signature High Income Fund, managed by Geof Marshall, Ryan Fitzgerald, Joe D'Angelo and Eric Bushell of Signature Global Advisors, provides consistent monthly income by investing in a diversified portfolio of high-yielding securities. It has an outstanding long-term record of performance and received Morningstar Canadian Investment Awards in 2004, 2010 and 2011.
"The success of Signature High Income reflects our work in developing a robust lineup of effective income solutions to meet the needs of Canadian investors in today's low-rate environment, including funds such as Signature Diversified Yield Fund, Cambridge Income Fund, Select Income Advantage Managed Corporate Class, and Portfolio Series Income Fund," Mr. Green said.
CI Investments was also a finalist for the Advisors' Choice Investment Fund Company of the Year award, and the following CI funds were finalists in their categories:
- Harbour Fund (Canadian equity)
- Cambridge Canadian Equity Corporate Class (Canadian equity)
- CI Global High Dividend Advantage Fund (global equity)
- Black Creek International Equity Fund (international equity)
- CI Global Small Companies Fund (global small/mid-cap equity)
- CI Global Health Sciences Corporate Class (specialty equity).
"Our list of winners and finalists includes seven portfolio management teams and diverse mandates, which speaks to the breadth and quality of our managers and fund lineup," Mr. Green said. "We congratulate our managers and thank investors and advisors for their support."
