CI welcomes award-winning portfolio manager Roger Mortimer to Harbour Advisors

TORONTO, Sept. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - CI Investments Inc. today announced the addition of veteran portfolio manager Roger Mortimer to the Harbour Advisors investment team and the retirement of Harbour's Gerry Coleman, one of Canada's premier fund managers.

Effective October 1, 2013, Mr. Mortimer has been appointed Lead Portfolio Manager of Harbour Growth & Income Fund, Harbour Growth & Income Corporate Class and Harbour Global Growth & Income Corporate Class. He will be based in Toronto and work closely with Stephen Jenkins, Senior Vice-President and Senior Portfolio Manager, and other members of Harbour Advisors. Mr. Jenkins will continue as Lead Portfolio Manager of Harbour Fund and Harbour Corporate Class, and will become Lead Portfolio Manager of Harbour Global Equity Corporate Class. Mr. Jenkins will be backed up on his funds by Mr. Mortimer and, at the same time, Mr. Mortimer will be backed up by Mr. Jenkins.

Mr. Mortimer has 18 years of investment experience, including managing Canadian and global equity and income portfolios at Capital Group and AIM Investments (now Invesco). He is best known for his management of AIM Canadian First Class (now Trimark Canadian Class), which significantly outperformed the benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index and its peer group during his tenure.

Prior to joining CI, Mr. Mortimer was Managing Director of Parador Asset Management, a company he founded in 2009. From 2005 to 2009, he was a Vice-President and Portfolio Manager in the Canadian operations of Capital Group Companies, a Los Angeles-based investment management firm.
From 1997-2005, Mr. Mortimer was a Senior Vice-President and Portfolio Manager at AIM Investments and a Global Partner of its parent firm AMVESCAP, where he managed in excess of $2 billion. He was the lead manager of several mutual funds for Canadian and U.S. investors, including Canadian equity, Canadian income equity, global equity, and global energy equity. Funds managed by Mr. Mortimer won numerous awards and achieved Morningstar five-star ratings in Canada and in the United States.
Harbour Advisors was founded in 1997 and has been led since inception by Mr. Coleman and Mr. Jenkins. The team manages seven funds with a total of $12.6 billion in assets under management (as of August 31, 2013).
Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Mortimer are supported by an experienced group of portfolio managers and research analysts. In recognition of their valuable contributions to the team, Portfolio Managers Aleksy Wojcik and Phil D'Iorio will take on increased responsibilities in assisting the senior portfolio managers on the funds. Mr. Wojcik and Mr. D'Iorio also will continue as portfolio managers of Harbour Voyageur Corporate Class, while Doug Cooper has been promoted to Portfolio Manager of Harbour Voyageur.
Mr. Mortimer will be employed by CI Global Investments Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CI.
