CIBC is the exclusive provider of these unique, festive Diwali coins, available online, in select branches or can be ordered for pickup in any branch
TORONTO, Nov. 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Just in time for Diwali, CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) is exclusively offering Canadians two limited edition unique coins to commemorate this year's celebration.
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a five-day festival celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and many others around the world. This year, Diwali will be observed on Nov. 11, which is also Remembrance Day.
"In keeping with CIBC's long history of embracing Canada's rich cultural heritage, we are proud to celebrate alongside the more than one million Canadians of South Asian heritage and mark the Festival of Lights with our special commemorative coins," says Vineet Malhotra, Managing Director and Head, Alternate Solutions Group and Retail Solutions Group, CIBC. "On behalf of CIBC, we wish everyone a very Happy Diwali."
CIBC, the only bank providing Diwali coins in Canada, offers an 1 ounce coin of fine gold or pure silver that depicts good fortune, wealth, prosperity and beginnings. They are available for purchase online and at select CIBC branches in the Greater Toronto Area and Vancouver. The coins can also be ordered at any branch in Canada for pickup.
CIBC is also proud to once again be a Platinum Sponsor of this year's Canada Dry DiwaliFest in Brampton, the largest Diwali celebration of its kind in Canada taking place today through Sunday.
As a leading provider of foreign exchange in Canada, CIBC last month made it easier and more affordable for Canadians to send money to loved ones worldwide by eliminating the upfront remittance fees. The new CIBC Global Money Transfer™ service is currently available to 35 countries, including India, and will be expanded to include 60 countries by the end of 2016. The bank also recently launched an online foreign currency exchange service with free home delivery.
