USS and A Tribe Called Red kicking things off at PANAMANIA Live at CIBC Pan Am Park
TORONTO, July 6, 2015 /CNW/ - With the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games just days away, this summer is the perfect time to bring the entire family to Canada's biggest city as it hosts one of the biggest celebrations Canada has ever seen!
The best place to come and spend the day is CIBC Pan Am Park (PAP) — known as 'action central' during the Games — which is located along the city's waterfront. Starting this Saturday, July 11, the park will be a lively hub of sport and culture from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily until Saturday, July 25.
TO2015 will host an exclusive media tour of the park's opening day on Saturday, July 11 at 1 p.m. (ET). Space is limited and media must RSVP in advance. Please RSVP no later than 12 p.m. Thursday, July 9 by contacting [email protected].
It's free for everyone to come down and join in the fun at CIBC Pan Am Park! But it is even better if you have a ticket to one of the 16 sports competitions at the park, which run the gamut from beach volleyball to rugby sevens, gymnastics to triathlon. Buy now at TORONTO2015.org/tickets.
Be there in person when history is made. Will reigning Olympic and world trampoline champion Rosie MacLennan triumph in defending her Pan Am title? Will the Canadian men's rugby sevens team successfully try for a second Pan Am gold? And help celebrate their wins when O Canada is played as they take the podium and receive their medals right in these venues.
And remember: All Games event tickets provide FREE transit on the day of your event. For more details on transportation options to the CIBC Pan Am Park, visit TORONTO2015.org/transportation.
In addition to the ticketed venues, the park boasts a 52,249 sq. metre open space full of free activities for people of all ages and abilities. These include daily musical acts as part of PANAMANIA, presented by CIBC, a Chevrolet miniature slot car track, a splash pad and a chance to have your photo taken holding the TORONTO 2015 competition medals.
The park will also have the city's largest temporary beer garden — thanks to Molson Canadian House — and host the return of the much-loved Molson Canadian Global beer fridge. There will also be a smorgasbord of food trucks to tempt your taste buds, a 465 sq. metre retail superstore to purchase your Games gear and a Ticketmaster booth to make last-minute ticket purchases for Pan Am sport and Ceremony events.

Put on Your Dancing Shoes
PANAMANIA Live at CIBC Pan Am Park will feature exciting live performances on two stages at CIBC Pan Am Park. The grand opening weekend will feature performances by USS and A Tribe Called Red. Other acts from across Canada and the Americas on the marquee for the park include: Kiesza, Stars, Colin James, Choc Quib Town, Bajofondo, Afro-Cuban All Stars, and more! For start times and dates, visit TORONTO2015.org/panamania
This is one of three sites for PANAMANIA, presented by CIBC, operating in Toronto during the Games. The others are located at Nathan Phillips Square and the Distillery District.
Or . . . Put up Your Feet and Relax
Kick back and watch CBC's live feed of all the sporting action at the Games — including competitions from venues right here in the park — in CIBC's #PanAmazing square with other fans and help cheer on the athletes together!
This family-friendly area will also have fun activities for kids, giveaways, and surprise guest appearances including CIBC Team Next athletes. Fans will also be able to get their picture taken with the Pan Am Torch.
Touch the Magic of the Medals
Don the white gloves of a museum curator and hold the spectacular TORONTO 2015 competition medals, produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, with metals provided by Barrick Gold Corporation.
Run your fingers over the mixed-metal pattern and the braille on the back — both firsts for Games medals. This is the only place this summer to see the medals up close and capture a great photo!
Share a Coke & Make a Pan Am Memory
Coca-Cola is celebrating summer in a big way, bringing back one of its most successful Canadian programs of all time: Share a Coke.
The campaign will allow visitors at CIBC Pan Am Park to create their own customized mini-can of Coca-Cola with their name on it!
Test Your Racing Skills
Get ready to experience the thrill of competition and the Power of Play at the world's largest Chevrolet Volt-powered slot car track! Go head-to-head against family and friends and put your pedal-power to the test. Race for the gold and receive your very own commemorative medal.
While you're at it, be sure check out the Volt battery tower, mobile device charging stations and Chevrolet's exciting lineup of cars, crossovers and trucks including the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle.
Or Paddle to Victory
Up for a challenge? In need to impress your friends and family? Stop by the OLG All for Here Challenge to test your skills at one of three sport simulators.
Experience the rush of competing in the thrilling kayak sprint event, make it count as you push to reach the finish line in the cycling road race, or take your turn carrying the Pan Am Torch! Each race contestant takes home a medal and then can stay and play bingo with the OLG team or test the all-new PlayOLG.ca site for instant prizes.
Open the Door . . . to a New World
Like the children in the Chronicles of Narnia, peer into a new world — the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletes' Village — and make new connections using a special two-way interactive portal.
Provided by Beanfield Metroconnect, the 1.8-metre-tall TV screen 'doorway' in the park is mirrored with a similar 'doorway' in the Athletes' Village. The TV screens carry a live feed, provided via the Beanfield network, enabling visitors to talk and play with the person at the other end.
With more than 6,000 athletes from 41 countries attending the Pan Am Games, you never know who might be on the other side!
Or Open the Molson Canadian Beer Fridge . . . it's Back!
You saw it on TV during the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, now experience it for yourself. But there's a twist to how the fridge will open . . . the catchphrase I Am Canadian must be said in six different languages! So grab some friends and start practicing.
This summer the 800-seat Molson Canadian House has the best patio in town as the brewery giant helps celebrate the TORONTO 2015 Games!
Located adjacent to the PANAMANIA Live at CIBC Pan Am Park stage, catch live entertainment, watch the live sports feed, grab a bite from the food trucks and of course enjoy some ice cold Molson Canadian with friends between rugby sevens and handball only a few minutes' walk away.
Unleash the Power of Your Mind!
The Siemens Canada Geodesic Dome is an opportunity to "look inside" your body and mind through interactive displays and activities.
Harness the power of your thoughts to cause a virtual wind turbine to spin at the Mind2Motion display, and use the Syngo medical imaging software to take photos in front of a green screen and superimpose your head on an ultrasound image of a human body — with a printed photo as a memento.
Take the Selfie to New Heights
Using Toronto's iconic skyline as a backdrop — and with the ideal vantage point — visitors at CIBC Pan Am Park can take a selfie with the CN Tower perfectly framed in the background.
Visitors are encouraged to post their selfie on social media channels tagging #mycntower. Visitors to the CN Tower booth will also have the chance to win prizes and take home some CN Tower swag while supplies last.
