CIMA Mayor's Cricket Team to be announced for Cricket Across the Pond
TORONTO, July 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Councillor Anthony Perruzza (Ward 8 York West) Chair of the Community Development and Recreation Committee, Councillor John Parker (Ward 26 Don Valley West), City of Toronto staff and members of the community will gather to announce and congratulate the 12 youth selected for the fifth annual Cricket Across the Pond program. On hand will be Martin Saxton, Chair of CIMA Canada; Zanita DiSalle, RBC Regional Vice-President, Greater Toronto Area; Tom Mihalik, owner of Tom's Place; and Jonathan Dart United Kingdom Consul General.

Members of the CIMA Mayor's Cricket Team were selected from Toronto's diverse neighbourhoods and will soon travel to the United Kingdom to play and learn cricket. The Toronto Mayor's Team vs. London Mayor's Team cricket match will take place in Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, a borough in southwest London, England, on July 18.
The goals of the Cricket Across the Pond project are to improve access to the game of cricket, reach out and engage young people through cricket, improve physical activity among youth, build leadership skills in young cricketers and provide an opportunity for young people to represent Toronto and Canada abroad.
