"After completing our third year of the program, 10% of CIRI members are CPIRs. The designation combines academic rigor with strong industry experience to raise the standard of the investor relations profession in Canada. In doing so, CIRI is creating greater awareness of the important role IROs play in the capital markets."
"The CIRI/IVEY Investor Relations Certification Program is in-depth and effectively covers all aspects of investor relations. The design and delivery of the program provides incredible professional growth and is a lasting learning opportunity for investor relations practitioners. The instructors were excellent and the value of networking and sharing insights with my peers was immense," commented 2013-2014 Certification student, Stephanie MacVicar, CPIR, Newalta Corporation. "Investor relations professionals play a strategic role in capital markets and the Certification Program strengthens the stature of investor relations and the ability of companies to effectively create and communicate value to shareholders."
CIRI's mandate is to contribute to the transparency and integrity of the Canadian capital market by advancing the practice of investor relations, the professional competency of its members, and the stature of the profession. Recognizing that there was a need for formal education in the field of investor relations, CIRI developed a program with the Ivey Business School covering all relevant areas of this multi-disciplinary role, including capital markets, corporate governance, securities law, finance and communications. Once individuals successfully complete the program, they are required to write an exam (administered by CIRI) to attain the Certified Professional in Investor Relations (CPIR) designation. This is the first investor relations designation program in North America.
