City event highlights Toronto's business community success

TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Mayor Rob Ford and Councillor Michael Thompson (Ward 37 Scarborough Centre), Chair of the Economic Development Committee, hosted an event at Casa Loma this evening to highlight commercial and industrial properties in the city that are available for investment and redevelopment. They were joined by guests from Toronto's business community.

"Over the last three years my administration has transformed Toronto into an economic powerhouse and an engine of growth and prosperity," said Mayor Ford. "We are making Toronto one of the best places in the world to work, to invest and to live."

Mayor Ford's speech at the event emphasized Toronto's positive economic outlook along with the city's growing international influence and its impressive construction developments.

The event helped launch the City of Toronto's 2014 Signature Sites Series, which presents to Toronto's business community notable commercial and industrial properties that are available for sale, investment or redevelopment.

"Toronto is one of the world's strongest construction and building development centres," said Councillor Michael Thompson (Ward 37 Scarborough Centre), Chair of the Economic Development Committee. "Much of that strength is due to the collaboration that now exists between Toronto's private and public sectors."

This third annual Signature Sites Series event was hosted by the City of Toronto in conjunction with event partners Build Toronto, Invest Toronto and the Toronto Port Lands Company.
