City of Montréal labour dispute ends - The Insectarium to Reopen on Saturday,
October 9 - The Biodôme to Open its Doors on December 4
MONTREAL, Oct. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Montréal's Nature Museums are pleased that the city and its blue collar workers have reached an agreement and are happy to announce that the Insectarium will be reopening on Saturday, October 9. The Biodôme will open on December 4, to allow it to complete its renovations. The Nature Museums are eager to welcome visitors once again and to gradually bring back the 80 white-collar employees who were affected by the strike.
New technology and a new experience at the Biodôme
The Biodôme is very busy getting ready to reopen on December 4! Staying closed for the next few weeks will allow it to move more quickly on completing the renovations begun in recent months. After 18 years of use and 15 million visitors, the interpretation tools in the ecosystems are being replaced with new interactive touchscreen terminals. Visitors will enjoy a new and enhanced look at the ecosystems, focused more on biodiversity.
The Insectarium will open on October 9
Just in time for Halloween! The reopened Insectarium, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, will be offering a fun program of activities revolving around spiders. It will also be resuming its regular activities, including Busy Bodies, an exhibition all about social insects, its live and mounted collections and its Diversity permanent exhibition room.
Regular activities continue at the Botanical Garden and Planetarium
As spectacular as ever, The Magic of Lanterns is lighting up the Chinese Garden at the Botanical Garden until October 31, and the Main Exhibition Greenhouse is hosting the 25th anniversary of the Great Pumpkin Ball celebrations. Starting October 8, the Planetarium invites you to enjoy a Guided Tour of the Milky Way, a new interactive multimedia show presented by Rio Tinto Alcan.
