City of Toronto and partners officially open revitalized playground in Rotary Peace Park

TORONTO, July 30, 2014 /CNW/ - Mayor Rob Ford, Councillor Mark Grimes (Ward 6 Etobicoke-Lakeshore), the Rotary Peace Park Rejuvenation Committee and City of Toronto staff came together today to officially open the revitalized Rotary Peace Park playground with a ribbon-cutting and plaque-unveiling ceremony.

"Upgrading Toronto's parks and playgrounds has been an important priority of my administration. High-quality parks and recreation facilities are essential to quality of life in Toronto," said Mayor Ford. "The enhancements to this playground are something that the community can enjoy for years to come."

"So many people and organizations, including local residents and businesses, City staff and corporate partners, came together to help revitalize this playground," said Councillor Grimes. "We want to thank our partners and everyone involved for their contributions to this fantastic community amenity."

The playground has been revitalized through a partnership between the City of Toronto, GLAD Canada, the Rotary Peace Park Rejuvenation Committee, Live Green Toronto, Rotary Club of Etobicoke, and Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation. Enhancements include new junior and senior play structures and swing set, new landscaping, lighting, pathway and drainage improvements, and new benches.
