City of Toronto celebrates new rinks in Dieppe Park

TORONTO, Dec. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - Councillor Mary Fragedakis (Ward 29 Toronto-Danforth) joined by City officials and staff as well as members of the local community, celebrated the opening of the new rinks at Dieppe Park (located at 455 Cosburn Ave.) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community skate on the new rinks.

"The refurbishment of the building, the new rink and skating path are a remarkable improvement to Dieppe Park and will be enjoyed for many more years," said Councillor Fragedakis. "My thanks and congratulations go out to the staff and community who worked so hard to make this happen."

The existing rink slab was replaced; fences, dasher boards and the refrigeration were improved; new lighting was installed on the hockey ice pad and the leisure skating path; and new rubber flooring and benches were installed. The $2.4 million investment included both interior and exterior renovations to the change room building in addition to modification and enhancement of the existing site landscape, asphalt and concrete sidewalks.
