WATERLOO, April 23, 2020 /CNW/ - Internationally recognized as a hub for technology and innovation, the City of Waterloo is following that same spirit by implementing the bids&tenders digital procurement platform (https://waterloo.bidsandtenders.ca/Module/Tenders/en) to streamline staff's purchasing processes.
"The implementation of the bids&tenders platform allows us to purchase high quality goods and services in an efficient and cost effective way,"said Jason Wilhelm, Procurement Manager at the City of Waterloo. "By utilizing digital procurement technology, we can continue providing for our community, safely and effectively during the COVID-19 crisis."
As of April 27, the bids&tenders platform will be helping the City of Waterloo effectively manage the needs of its rapidly growing population and infrastructure development. By moving its procurement processes online, the City can continue to post and manage new bids remotely during office closures and physical distancing protocols. The switch to digital procurement also saves time and resources by replacing weeks of labour intensive bid setup, review and contract management with automated analysis that generates bid comparison reports and screens for compliant supplier bid submissions. The end-to-end procurement lifecycle is typically made 35 per cent faster with the bids&tenders platform.
Digital procurement benefits not only streamline procurement for the City, but allow suppliers to more easily submit bids. Suppliers looking for their next opportunity in Waterloo can simply create an account on the bids&tenders platform for full access to opportunities posted by the City, as well as hundreds of other local municipalities, public sector organizations and private companies using bids&tenders.
Prospective City partners can review and submit responses to requests for information (RFI), requests for quotations (RFQ), requests for proposals (RFP) and requests for tenders (RFT) online, from anywhere. Suppliers can also receive automatic notifications when relevant new opportunities become available.
