MONTRÉAL, Feb. 23, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The mayor of Montréal, Ms. Valérie Plante, announced today that the consultation period regarding its 2018-2020 Municipal Action Plan for Seniors will be extended to March 15.
The city will then table its plan at the beginning of May, 2018, in accordance with an agreement with the Ministère de la Famille in support of the Age-Friendly Municipality (AFM) program. The city had set four meetings in February, 2018, in collaboration with the advisory committee, made up of members of the FADOQ, of the Table de concertation des personnes aînées de l'Île de Montréal, and of the Association québécoise pour la défense des droits des personnes retraitées et préretraitées. Two new meetings were added to the schedule, one in Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough and one in Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough.
"We heard the concerns of our fellow citizens who wanted to take part in our consultation process. It is important for my administration to gather the opinions of as many Montrealers as possible, as their contribution will influence our future actions and will help improve their scope and benefits for our seniors", said the mayor, Ms. Valérie Plante.
"It is important for us to reach out to the largest possible number of citizens, both seniors and people who are concerned with their wellbeing. It is a long-term project that will extend beyond this current process. We also encourage all boroughs to develop orientations and local synergies so as to adapt to the specific realities of every neighborhood, which several boroughs are already doing", added Rosannie Filato, member of the city's executive committee, in charge of social and community development.
In addition to the consultation meetings, a survey may also be filled out, both in French, at realisonsmtl.ca/aines and in English, at makingmtl.ca/seniors. Paper copies of the survey are also available, and participants who have trouble filling it out, or who wish to do so verbally, may call 438 320-1298, for assistance in both languages.
