CityHousing Hamilton lauded for excellence in tenant relations

Hamilton non-profit housing provider receives 2014 ONPHA Award for Excellence

OTTAWA, Nov. 17, 2014 /CNW/ - CityHousing Hamilton (CHH) was honoured with the Award for Excellence at the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association's (ONPHA) annual conference & trade show yesterday. The award recognized several of CHH's initiatives, especially its tenant engagement strategy. 

 "Our awards committee was very impressed with all of the ways that CHH cultivates strong relationships with tenants," said ONPHA Executive Director Sharad Kerur. "Annual picnics, community gardens and a strong staff presence on-site encourage tenants to take an active role in their building and community."

"Engaging tenants is essential to creating a sense of community," added ONPHA Board President Keith Hambly. "CHH is proof that reaching-out to tenants, soliciting their feedback and ideas, and involving them in decision-making creates positive environments for residents and staff."

Each year, ONPHA recognizes its housing members through its Awards Program. Other awards include the Sybil Frenette Outstanding Leadership Award, the Tenant Achievement Recognition Award and the ONPHA Innovation Award.
