Civilized and Chelsea Handler Team Up For Canadian Tour
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Political activism, culture and cannabis will be among the hot topics covered by comedian Chelsea Handler as part of seven live town hall events across Canada this fall.
The Canadian 'A Civilized Conversation With Chelsea Handler' tour follows a successful debut event in Saint John, New Brunswick, sponsored by Tweed and hosted by Civilized, in association with the World Cannabis Congress.
"Chelsea Handler's perspective, approach and humour galvanize and inspire her audiences wherever she goes," says Civilized Publisher Derek Riedle, who will moderate the town hall events. "I'm looking forward to sharing the stage with her again to take the pulse of the nation ahead of recreational cannabis legalization in Canada in October."
The nation-wide speaking tour is modelled after the town hall events Handler has been doing in cities across the U.S., centered around social and political activism. With a social media following of over 15 million through her social channels, she is an outspoken champion for human rights and the fight against injustice and inequality.
Handler is an American comedian, author and activist. She hosted the late-night talk show Chelsea Lately on the E! network, released a Netflix documentary series, Chelsea Does, and hosted the talk show Chelsea, also on Netflix. She is the author of five New York Times best-selling books. Handler is currently working on a documentary for Netflix covering the topic of white privilege in America. This year she also announced her plans to launch a cannabis brand.
As Founder and Publisher of Civilized, a premium, multi-platform, digital media and lifestyle brand that embraces and highlights modern cannabis culture, Derek Riedle is a leader in the cannabis industry and a sought-after speaker.
