Civilized Presents "A Night Out with Chelsea Handler" in Saint John, NB
The Town Hall event is Chelsea Handler's first Canadian speaking appearance
SAINT JOHN, NB, June 10, 2018 /CNW/ - Media and lifestyle brand Civilized presents "A Night Out with Chelsea Handler" on Sunday, June 10 at 7 pm at the Imperial Theatre in Saint John, NB.
Sponsored by Tweed, the Town Hall event will see Handler bring her wit and humour to political, societal and cultural issues as she and Civilized CEO and Publisher Derek Riedle have a fireside chat on stage.
"We are excited Chelsea Handler is here to share her perspective," says Derek Riedle, CEO and Publisher of Civilized. "I'm looking forward to seeing her engage with the audience and having some laughs."
Handler is currently doing a series of Town Hall-like events in cities across the U.S., which are centred around social activism in hopes of galvanizing citizens to use their voices. She is delivering a keynote address June 11 at the World Cannabis Congress, taking place in Saint John.
With five books to her credit, many of them best sellers, and another in production with Penguin Random House, Handler has been reaching audiences of all ages. She has been honoured by TIME magazine as one of its annual "TIME 100 Most Influential People;" by Glamour magazine as one of its 2011 Women of the Year; and by the Human Rights Campaign, which gave her its Ally for Equality Award in 2009. With nearly 15 million followers, Handler was shortlisted for a 2017 Shorty Award, honouring the best in social media.
With the recent news of Bill C-45 reaching another milestone taking Canada one step closer to a legalized recreational cannabis market, Civilized and Tweed are collaborating to reduce stigma and shift outdated perceptions associated with cannabis.
"Fighting stigma and bringing positive change are central to everything we do at Tweed," said Mark Zekulin, President, Tweed. "We're proud to be part of having Chelsea here to share her perspective and advance the conversation on cannabis."
Tickets to "A Night Out with Chelsea Handler" are available from the Imperial Theatre here.
