TORONTO, March 25, 2019 /CNW/ - The Canadian Journalism Foundation's (CJF) annual Ottawa J-Talk will feature Sarah Kendzior, the popular St. Louis, Missouri-based op-ed columnist for The Globe and Mail and co-host of the Gaslit Nation podcast along with Vassy Kapelos, host of Power & Politics on CBC News.
The event, The Fight for Truth: Political Journalism in 2019, takes place on April 9 at the National Arts Centre.
"Now, perhaps more than ever, we need to understand the challenges journalists confront in the pursuit of truth – the heart of the stories we tell," says Alison Smith, host of Perspective with Alison Smith on CPAC, who will moderate the discussion. "We need to understand those challenges as journalists and as citizens."
Among the questions to be discussed: If journalism is about holding power to account, then journalists on both sides of the border are definitely doing their jobs. But to what effect? And how does the political climate in each country affect reporting and coverage?
This event is part of the annual J-Talks series, which explores pressing media issues.
The CJF thanks the generosity of J-Talks series sponsor BMO Financial Group, venue sponsor National Arts Centre and in-kind supporters CPAC/The Democracy Project and CISION.
