Clean Harbors workers ratify their first collective agreement
Although the employer tried all conceivable methods of eluding a collective agreement, Teamsters Local 362 saw though their game
CALGARY, Aug. 9, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Clean Harbors 600 workers in the Wood Buffalo Region ratify their first collective agreement on August 5th.
Although the employer tried all conceivable methods of eluding a collective agreement, Teamsters Local 362 saw though their game plan and instituted their own plan which pressured Clean Harbors to properly negotiate a fair contract for 362s members.
Organized in the fall of 2011 and with negotiations dragging on and a imminent strike looming, the bargaining committee of Lance Wallace, Wayne Garner, Nigel Brown-Warr, John Doerksen, Darryl Paul, Charles Sample, George Bagnall and Donald Rogers worked together and with all their will and expertise pressure the employer to a final offer which was ratified by 81 percent of the membership.
This will be a new beginning in a work place that has long been one of harassment, bullying and disrespect. Teamsters demand fairness in the work place and this what has been negotiated.
Clean Harbors employees work to eliminate hazardous waste as well as operate vacuum, steam and water truck equipment for all purposes through out North America.
Teamsters Local Union 362 would like to thank all those that contributed in the success of this major set of negotiations and improving our members quality of life.
The Teamsters represents 115,000 members in Canada in all trades. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters Canada is affiliated, has 1.4 million members in North America.
