Cleanfield Leverages Its Power Electronics Expertise into Ontario Solar
Initiatives
TORONTO, Dec. 9 /CNW/ - Cleanfield Alternative Energy Inc. ("Cleanfield") (TSX Venture: AIR) - a leader in innovative, urban renewable energy technologies and building-integrated solutions - is excited to announce its Ontario solar initiatives. Cleanfield's solar initiatives are a vital part of the company's overall urban renewable energy technology strategy, which includes a solar inverter, wind inverter and off-grid hybrid inverter systems…all of which positions the company as a dynamic power electronics company.
Cleanfield's CEO Tony Verrelli said, "We are encouraged by the enormous success of the Ontario Power Authority's feed-in tariff programs, which are stimulating the rapid growth of development, production and installation of solar energy products in the Ontario market. As of November 22, 2010, over 22,000 microFIT applications have been submitted with over 90% of the microFIT applications are for solar (microFIT Program - projects 10 Kilowatts or less). Cleanfield is expanding the use of its innovative inverter to function with solar PV and hybrid system (wind/solar). In addition, in early 2011, Cleanfield will be marketing an innovative single-axis ballasted racking tracker system."
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Inverter: An inverter is an electrical device that converts energy generated by wind turbine or solar panel to AC electricity. Since Cleanfield's proprietary wind inverter is well tested, certified and proven for commercial applications, the company is modifying it to accommodate the requirements of the solar industry. Cleanfield's Solar System Inverter (SSI) features high efficiency, PV maximum power tracking, parallel operation capability single/3-phase operation (grid interactive), and auxiliary control. Cleanfield will target sales to commercial and residential customers, for applications below 10 kW of capacity (eligible for the microFIT Program).
Solar Tracking System: Cleanfield is entering into a license agreement with Trabant Solar to manufacture and market their solar tracking system in the Province of Ontario and targeting commercial and utility customers. The titled, single-axis Trabant Solar Tracker is easy to install, rugged and reliable, and capable of holding 10 or 12 panels. Its automatic tracking of the sun can capture 32% more yield than a fixed-tilt panel rack. Cleanfield has sold and installed its first 10kW solar tracking system as part of the microFIT program is Oshawa, Ontario.
Solar PV systems: Cleanfield is designing and marketing solar photovoltaic systems for commercial and industrial customers in collaboration with a multitude of established solar energy product suppliers and expert technical consultants. The company is also marketing a solar/wind hybrid system including three of its V3.5 kW vertical axis wind turbines. Cleanfield's first solar and wind microFIT system was sold to the CYO in Hamilton, Ontario.
About Cleanfield: Cleanfield is an innovative technology company focused on the research, development and distribution of renewable energy solutions for the urban environment. Cleanfield possesses industry leading, proprietary inverter technologies, which it currently sells through a complete solution - a 3.5 kW vertical axis wind turbine. Cleanfield turbines have been installed in over 50 locations worldwide. The company's vision is to be recognized as an international leader in bringing high-quality and innovative sustainable energy solutions to the marketplace.
