Close to 100 participating Montréal restaurants - Reservations are now open for the first edition of TASTE MTL, from November 1 to 11 Français
MONTREAL, Oct. 2, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The moment that epicureans have been waiting for has finally arrived! An initiative of Tourisme Montréal, TASTE MTL, presented by the SAQ, officially opens its reservation book today. From November 1 to 11, close to 100 restaurants across Montréal will offer delicious table d'hôte menus at equally appetizing prices: $19, $29 and $39. This unique event is an invitation to celebrate Montréal cuisine at its best!
In following other major North American cities such as New York, San Francisco and Vancouver, Montréal will now host its first-ever Restaurant Week. For 11 days, Montrealers and visitors alike will have the chance to experience the great variety and quality that Montréal restaurants offer, as well as to savour the creativity of the city's internationally-renowned chefs.
"It's by no coincidence that the Frommer's guide ranked Montréal among the World's Top Ten Cities for Outdoor Dining," highlights the Honourable Charles Lapointe, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tourisme Montréal. "Montrealers like to eat out and the geniality that goes hand in hand with a Montréal dining experience is indeed unique in North America. It's an integral part of our city's tourist offering and its appeal."
"TASTE MTL provides an incredible opportunity for restaurateurs to "democratize" their cuisine and share their passion. I hope that all get the chance to sample Montréal's unique flavour during this inaugural edition," adds Jérôme Ferrer, celebrated chef of the Europea Group and a member of Tourisme Montréal's Gastronomic Committee.

A true culinary celebration
Part of the Célébrations SAQ event, TASTE MTL celebrates gastronomy in a myriad of ways. In addition to special menus offered in participating restaurants, a wide array of activities to showcase the art of dining has been organized across the city.
As such, VDM Global will present five delicious culinary tours in the format of a 5 à 7 (happy hour) get-together during the TASTE MTL event. On the menu: an experienced guide, scrumptious tapas, and the inside scoop on the neighbourhood, its residents and its most stylish eateries.
In addition, Mont-Royal Avenue will host suppers lit solely with candles in six participating restaurants. It's the place to be on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from November 2 to 11 for an excellent meal in a romantic setting. What's more, on Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November 2, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Place Gérald-Godin (just outside the Mont-Royal metro station) will shine thanks to a unique light installation by Odace Événements comprised of 500 candles arranged artistically on the ground.
