TORONTO, March 1, 2019 /CNW/ - Canadian Network Operators Consortium Inc. (CNOC) welcomes the CRTC's decision to set out a path to enhance Canada's wireless market by removing barriers to competition and giving Canadians the choice they deserve.
CNOC supports the CRTC's call for mandated access to wireless markets. Expanding access and opening competition to more industry players will help lower Canadian wireless fees, which are currently among some of the highest in the world.
"CNOC will strongly advocate for the direction set out by the CRTC that will level the industry's playing field and encourage innovation. It is welcome news for consumers, for our members, and for the future vibrancy of Canada's mobile wireless market," said Matt Stein, CNOC's Chair and CEO of Distributel.
CNOC is encouraged by the CRTC's chosen path, which will serve Canadians well in the future by bringing important changes to the wireless market. It will provide a strong and meaningful response to consumers' concerns over paying some of the highest wireless rates in the world by providing them with true competitive choice.
