QUEBEC CITY, March 3, 2015 /CNW/ - CO2 Solutions Inc. ("the Company") (TSX-V: CST), a leader in low-cost carbon dioxide (CO2) capture announced today the Company will make presentations on its commercialization activities at two major events related to carbon capture and the environment.
U.S.-Canada CCS/CCUS Fourth Bilateral National Conference - Innovation in CO2 Capture: Increasing Performance and Reducing Cost
To be held on March 4 in Birmingham, Alabama, Jonathan Carley, CO2 Solutions' Vice-President of Business Development will present at this invitation-only event. Organized by National Resources Canada and the U.S. Department of Energy, the meeting will foster the dialogue on the advancement of technologies for carbon capture for greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions. The United States-Canada Clean Energy Dialogue (CED) was launched by U.S. President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to enhance bilateral collaboration on the development of clean energy science and technologies to reduce greenhouse gases and combat climate change.
The event will help showcase Canadian technology, and is yet another example of how Natural Resources Canada is both supporting innovation in Canada and fostering ways to collaborate with the U.S. on clean energy technologies.
Americana 2015
Mr. Carley will also present in Montreal on March 19 at The International Environmental Technology Trade Show and Conference, Americana. The event is recognized as one of the leading multi-sector events of its kind in North America, providing a forum for the exchange of knowledge and practical experience in relation to environmental technologies and policies. Mr. Carley will present CO2 Solutions' as part of a panel session on innovative projects contributing to GHG reductions, organized by Alberta's Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation (CCEMC). The panel will discuss the pathways to commercialization and highlights CCEMC's leadership in funding the development of technologies that can provide substantial environmental and economic benefits.
CO2 Solutions' Perspective
"The themes of these events are a perfect match for our value proposition: reducing the costs of carbon capture for both the commercial reuse of CO2 and for emissions reductions," stated Evan Price, President and CEO of CO2 Solutions. "The very low operating cost of our technology, we believe, creates many opportunities for us. Short-term, we see a number of commercial opportunities in sectors where companies are both emitters and consumers of CO2. The viability of these applications depends strongly on the price point of CO2, which is where our technology has the potential of being a game changer. We are honoured to be included in these two events."
"Longer term, we anticipate that the costs associated with emitting CO2 will increase to the point where there are strong economic incentives to adopt capture technology. When that moment comes, we are extremely well positioned to capitalize on this opportunity. Events like this conference provide us with the opportunity to discuss technological, economic and political developments in our sector, showcase our offering and broaden our network. Additionally, these events create a platform for business development as the Company moves closer to commercialization."
