MONTREAL, March 15, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Cogeco Connexion is honoured to be a finalist in the "Engagement dans la collectivité" (Community Involvement) category of the 38th edition of the Mercuriades, the Quebec Federation of Chambers of Commerce's (FCCQ) prestigious business competition. This category seeks to reward the company that, concurrent with its regular operations, is involved in its community through activities that raise and social commitment, and rallies its employees around specific causes.
Cogeco Connexion's nomination is most notably due to its volunteer involvement in the celebrations surrounding the 150th anniversary of Alma and the 52nd edition of the Jeux du Québec (Québec Games). Thanks to the many partnerships that were formed with local bodies, the teams at Cogeco Connexion and NousTV Alma were able to create major television productions. These alliances also fostered the participation of different community players, mobilized a host of volunteers and promote Alma throughout Québec's regions.
"It is with considerable pride and the feeling of a job well done that we receive this nomination," explained a delighted Line Gaudreault, Manager of the NousTV Alma station. "Not only did the teams of Cogeco Connexion and NousTV play a role at the local level, they also contributed significantly to the outreach of the Lac-Saint-Jean region at the provincial level," she concluded.
"We are honoured by this nomination, which attests yet again, to the importance of Cogeco Connexion's commitment to the community," asserted Johanne Hinse, Vice-President Sales – Consumer Market and Community Relations with Cogeco Connexion. "Cogeco Connexion and NousTV have been part of Québec's social, economic and cultural landscape for more than 60 years, contributing to its regional and economic development. This nomination strengthens our commitment and our resolve to maintain our positive and sustainable impact on the communities in which we pursue our activities."
Held since 1981, the Mercuriades competition celebrates the success and ambition of Québec companies. Winners of the 2018 edition of the Mercuriades will be revealed at a gala evening to be held April 18 at Montréal's Palais des Congrès.
