Colchester Historical Society Improving Its Infrastructure

Financial support provided for the acquisition of new equipment

TRURO, NS, March 17, 2014 /CNW/ - Scott Armstrong, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment and Social Development and Member of Parliament (Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley), today announced $49,999 in funding for the Colchester Historical Society. He made this announcement on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover.

The Government of Canada has provided funding through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund to help the Colchester Historical Society significantly improve the conditions of its heritage presentations and interpretation.

This project will allow the Colchester Historical Society to acquire specialized equipment to present the exhibition Life in the Heart of Nova Scotia. It includes the purchase and installation of new artifact display cases, with support bases that double as seating benches; the installation of large, motorized window scrims containing images from the Society's archives alongside promotional information; and ultraviolet film treatment for the museum's windows.
