Collaboration Key to Success in Education

TORONTO, Feb. 20, 2013 /CNW/ - Responding to the government's Throne Speech, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA) welcomes the priorities the Premier outlined for Ontario and the need for collaboration across all sectors, including education.

"We welcome the priority that this new government is placing on education and its stated desire to move forward in a way that is respectful and fair," says Kevin O'Dwyer, OECTA president. "We look forward to working with this new government in a collaborative fashion - to return respect to workers in the system and to build beneficial programs, such as full-day Kindergarten, that will enhance the learning experience and environment for students."

"It is through working together and respecting the input and ideas of all involved in education that we will move our system from great to excellent," adds O'Dwyer.

OECTA represents the 43,000 professional women and men who teach all grades in publicly funded English Catholic schools in Ontario.
