Mayor John Tory to join forces with civic leaders to collaborate on actions required to rebuild the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area
TORONTO, June 3, 2020 /CNW/ - Diverse senior and rising leaders from across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) will connect virtually to shape a multi-sector, collective response to COVID-19 through CivicAction's Re:Action Forum on June 11 and 12, 2020.
Media are invited to join the opening plenary and closing session. The opening plenary on June 11 will feature a panel with John Tory, Mayor of Toronto. The closing session on June 12 will feature a report back from the Forum's breakout labs on opportunities for collective action.
This Forum sees CivicAction again acting as the region's convener for cross-sector collaboration and action in the face of crisis. Following SARS in 2003, CivicAction spearhead the Toront03 Alliance, which generated $70 million in tourism and helped revitalize the industry in Toronto.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on the health, economy and wellbeing of GTHA residents, the Re:Action Forum will focus on the following three critical issues for action:
- Re:employment — helping young adults or those early in their career enter or re-enter the workforce, including those effected by layoffs.
- Supporting mental wellbeing and combating loneliness.
- Building and maintaining the trust in our communities and leaders needed to rebuild.
