College of Trades Announces Special Advisor
TORONTO, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - Scott Macivor has been hired as a Special Advisor to the College. Macivor will work with the newly appointed Appointments Council and Transitional Board of Governors to bring together the personnel and help put in place the policy and procedures for the College of Trades.
Macivor is president of SCOMAC Facilitators and served for ten years as chief executive officer of the Ontario Construction Secretariat, the first not-for-profit association in North America to bring together the interests of all unionized workers and contractors in the industrial, commercial and institutional construction sector.
He also served nine years as a vice president, associate management for the Toronto Real Estate Board and helped design and put in place self-regulation for the real estate industry in Ontario.
Rod Cameron, Chair of the Appointments Council and Transitional Board for the College is pleased to welcome Macivor, saying that he's "looking forward to working with Scott to support efforts to build an effective and efficient organization to serve skilled workers, apprentices and the people who hire them".
The Ontario College of Trades is the first self-regulating college in Canada - established by and for trades people to promote excellence and provide new opportunities for members to grow and succeed within their chosen trade.
Representing more than three quarters of a million men and women who make up the skilled trades sector, the College will build on that strength and enhance the future of the trades, by encouraging increased participation in apprenticeship.
