2009 Drill Program ------------------
Diamond drilling on the Meliadine West property was completed on
Drill results for the 2009 program were released on
Detailed drill results from all of the recent drill holes are attached to this release. Highlights from holes in the Tiriganiaq deposit include:
12.2 gmt gold over 13.2 meters in hole M09-830 15.2 gmt gold over 8.8 meters in hole M09-834 and: 12.9 gmt gold over 14.4 meters 16.1 gmt gold over 4.5 meters in hole M09-836 and: 10.1 gmt gold over 4.9m and: 8.1 gmt gold over 7.8m 12.9 gmt gold over 7.7 meters in hole M09-838 and: 27.6 gmt gold over 9.3 meters and: 15.6 gmt gold over 2.5 meters 28.5 gmt gold over 2.6 meters in hole M09-805
Drilling in the Western Deeps portion of the Tiriganiaq gold deposit targeted and delineated gold mineralization in a number of different lodes. Infill of the 1255 lode continued; however, focused drilling of the 1153 lode in the deeper parts of the deposit outlined a continuous zone of gold enrichment over 800 meters in length (see attached Figure 1: http://files.newswire.ca/437/Comaplex_Figure_1.pdf). Gold tenor of the 1153 lode is comparable to the 1255 lode, with both lodes open down plunge to the west. Multiple intersections continue to be the norm in the Western Deeps with all six holes in this release returning at least three mineralized surfaces, often of very high grade and substantial widths.
As noted in Comaplex release 09-10 (
Three drill holes (843, 846, and 848) were completed in the upper (open pit) portion of the Tiriganiaq deposit to tighten spacing in the 1100 lode resource. Assay results were as expected with multiple intersections encountered in the holes.
Reconnaissance drill testing of the Musket Bay area ~10 kilometers west of the Tiriganiaq deposit returned only low grade values in two of the seven holes detailed here (see attached Figure 2: http://files.newswire.ca/437/Comaplex_Figure_2.pdf). A total of 3013 meters in 15 holes were completed this season in the Musket Bay area. The source of the high grade gold boulder fields has not been located and interpretation of this year's results will take place this winter, in preparation for additional future work.
Interim Studies ---------------
Geotechnical, geochemical, and environmental field work has concluded on all three of the gold deposits (Tiriganiaq, F Zone, and Discovery) on the property. Geotechnical drilling was completed within each of the pits, in and around the proposed waste and ore piles, and in the proposed tailings and mill site areas. Environmental studies (fish, water, wildlife, etc.) were completed and geochemical work on waste, overburden, and ore (including kinetic testing) is ongoing. Reporting is expected over the next few months. Additional metallurgical study will commence this fall. This pre-feasibility level information will be used in both the Feasibility Study and in the regulatory/ permitting documentation.
Meliadine East Exploration --------------------------
Exploration on the Meliadine East property in 2009 was concluded in mid August. Operator and partner Meliadine Resources Ltd. (Resource Capital Fund) indicates drill results will be forthcoming at the end of
Comaplex's goal in 2009 is to advance the Meliadine property to a level that will support initiation of a Feasibility Study as soon as possible. Additional assay results from the last of the drill holes will be released when received and verified.
Doug Dumka, P.Geo. is the Exploration Manager for Comaplex Minerals and is the Senior Project Geologist and designated Qualified Person (Q.P.) for the Meliadine West Project.
Drill core analysis is performed on cut, half NQ core with standard fire assay procedures and a gravimetric finish (2 assay ton, 1000 gram pulp). QA/QC programs employ the insertion of external standards (low to high grade Au), blanks, and core duplicates every 20 samples. All assaying was completed by TSL Laboratories Ltd. based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. TSL completes its own internal QA/QC by inserting a standard, blank, pulp duplicate, and coarse reject duplicate in every batch of 20 analyses. QA/QC compliance was rigorously checked on a continuous basis during the exploration program.
Meterage provided is measured down hole and intersection widths are interpreted to be approximately 75% of true width.
