ComfortSense™ Now Offers Superior Comfort for Ventilated Seating Applications
DETROIT, Jan. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - ComfortSense™ seat cushioning is a proven approach to deliver improved initial softness, without the added expense of a secondary topper pad. This technology can be customized to offer automotive designers increased flexibility, providing a unique comfort profile with long-term performance and durability. ComfortSense™ A-surface treatments now offer additional value, by delivering optimized air distribution capability in both active and standard seat systems. Utilizing different designs, ComfortSense™ technology provides engineered "Comfort Zones" and "Tuned Ventilation," through an integrated network of air ducts that deliver an effective air distribution system while maintaining comfort and support.
In active climate seating applications, ComfortSense™ provides significantly enhanced comfort over traditional systems that typically employ a rigid, A-surface air distribution spacer. This production validated technology can be tuned to offer greater performance in several other key areas including: faster cooling response time, targeted air distribution by seat zone, and a lower system cost.
In conventional seat systems, ComfortSense™ has been independently tested to show improved comfort, through better microclimatic performance. This passive ventilation capability, promotes greater seat breathability versus the baseline seat, by providing increased air circulation through the vehicle's normal motion.
Matt Prascius, Senior Product Manager for seating at The Woodbridge Group states, "ComfortSense™ solutions are long proven to provide a cost effective approach to better seating comfort. This is particularly important today, as many of the automakers here at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) look to improve their customer's overall drive experience. This technology continues to advance, and is now being used in active climate seat designs, to improve cooling performance and comfort, while reducing system cost. ComfortSense™ is also in production today in passive ventilated or breathable seat designs, which offers the consumer increased seating comfort in a variety of trim levels. We're seeing significant interest in A, B and C segment vehicles and in alternative power vehicles, where any opportunity to conserve power through reducing the need to use the air conditioner is positive."
