Community Forum in support of Guelph Independent Living
GUELPH, ON, Oct 6 /CNW/ - Community leaders, municipal election candidates and staff with Guelph Independent Living will meet in a Community Forum on Thursday Oct. 7 to discuss the latest developments in the union's contract negotiations with management.
The Community Forum starts at 1 p.m., 400 Speedvale Ave. W.
More than 75 staff with GIL, represented by Local 203 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, are attempting to arrive at a contract settlement with GIL management. Negotiations have been ongoing since the beginning of the year, but no agreement is in sight.
By organizing the Community Forum, staff is seeking to gain public support for their position that the city of Guelph and region need good, well-paying jobs that support the needs of the elderly and youth with physical challenges.
The Community Forum is free and open to the public.
