HAWKESBURY, ON, April 25, 2016 /CNW/ - Area residents are invited to attend a Day of Mourning commemoration in Hawkesbury on Thursday, April 28, to honour workers who have been killed or injured on the job.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at Place des Pionniers, 351 Main Street East, Hawkesbury. Following the event, guests and media will be invited for a light lunch at the United Steelworkers union hall.

The Day of Mourning ceremony will include addresses from Hawkesbury Mayor Jeanne Charlebois, United Steelworkers (USW) Ontario Director Marty Warren and USW Eastern Ontario Area Coordinator Richard Leblanc.
The ceremony also will feature the unveiling of a United Steelworkers monument to commemorate workers who have died or suffered injuries or occupational diseases from their work. The project is the result of a collaboration with Luc Lamarre of Alfred and Monument Martel & Fils in Vankleek Hill.
