Government of Canada supports Association de soccer de Hull community project in Outaouais
GATINEAU, QC, July 5, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Greg Fergus, Member of Parliament for Hull–Aylmer, announced that the Association de soccer de Hull has been granted $410,395 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to expand and improve the Complexe Mont-Bleu pavilion in the Hull area.
Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. As part of the Canada 150 celebrations, the Government of Canada is proud to support projects like this one by the Association de soccer de Hull (website in French only), which contribute to the strength and vitality of all regions of the country.
For over 35 years, the Association de soccer de Hull has been giving community members a chance to play soccer at the recreational and competitive levels. The organization is also planning to offer local development programs, technical support for school activities in some schools, soccer camp for the summer holidays and soccer camp for professional development days. In the summer, 165 part-time employees join the 9 full-time employees to train boys and girls aged four years and over and to monitor the playing fields.
The funding awarded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) will help the club expand and improve the pavilion, adding three locker rooms with showers, two large washrooms, two storage rooms, a first-aid room, a multi-purpose room, an office for the managers, a janitorial room and a machine room. The complex's current facilities include four soccer fields, one synthetic field, a running track and a pavilion under the bleachers, complete with locker room and washrooms. The complex is used by many organizations, including the Gatineau Loppet, the CIRRUS Athletics Club, the Fédération de soccer du Québec, Soccer Outaouais and the Gatineau Vikings.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
