TORONTO, Sept. 25, 2012 /CNW/ - Comwave today launched a new version of ePhone for Android which is part of a string of Comwave Apps intended to take a bite of Skype's market share. ePhone is different though, because the App includes a free telephone number that users can choose allowing them to receive incoming calls from any telephone around the world. "Having a Toronto or New York phone number on your Smartphone is powerful especially when you travel and want to get around those costly roaming fees," said Yuval Barzakay, President. ePhone also comes with tremendous cost savings for users because it comes in two flavors, ePhone FREE and ePhone Global $30. With the FREE version, users get their own free phone number to make or receive calls anywhere in Canada and the USA at no cost. The $30 per year plan includes everything offered in the FREE version, plus it allows users to call over 60 countries free. Skype on the other hand charges for every call.

ePhone bridges the gap between Smartphone users, computers, and landline phone users by allowing all of them to communicate for free regardless of whether they have ePhone or not. "While other Apps seem to put up walled gardens confining you to the App, ePhone allows you to communicate for free to non ePhone users as well. Now, someone can be in New York with their traditional cell phone and call an Android ePhone user across the globe in India and allow another computer ePhone user to join in." added Mr. Barzakay.
ePhone is available for Android, Mac, PC and Blackberry Playbook. The iPad and iPhone 5 release is expected very soon.
