Concordia University to present Honorary Degrees to Seven Distinguished

MONTREAL, April 16 /CNW Telbec/ - Concordia University will bestow seven honorary doctorates during spring convocation ceremonies to be held June 21-23 in Salle Wilfrid Pelletier at Place des Arts (175 Ste. Catherine Street West). The distinguished recipients will join more than 4,800 students from across Concordia's four Faculties and the School of Graduate Studies who are eligible to graduate this spring.
Robert Charlebois, a groundbreaking singer, song writer, and actor, Charlebois is being recognized for his innovative contributions to the arts and culture in Quebec and abroad June 21 @ 10 am - Faculty of Arts and Science Eleanor Wachtel, CBC radio broadcaster, who has fostered a deep appreciation for literature and the arts through her broadcasts and books June 21 @ 3 pm - Faculty of Arts and Science Richard Pound (S BA'63), for his significant achievements in education, law, and letters, and his impact within the Olympic movement on the ethics and integrity of amateur sports June 21 @ 7 pm- Faculty of Arts and Science ------------------------------------------------------- Laurent Beaudoin, Chairman of the Board of Bombardier Inc., who exemplifies the spirit of Canadian entrepreneurship and business success June 22 @ 10 am - John Molson School of Business The Right Honourable Jean Chrétien, former Prime Minster of Canada, for his outstanding accomplishments in public service and his contribution to the advancement of post-secondary education and university research in Canada June 22 @ 3 pm - John Molson School of Business ------------------------------------------------------- Julie Payette, in recognition of her brilliant scientific career and achievements as Chief Astronaut of the Canada Space Agency June 23 @10 am - Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science ------------------------------------------------------- R.
