Construction work at Pointe Nord on Nuns' Island to resume - Construction of
new direct access to the Bonaventure Expressway
LONGUEUIL, QC, April 21 /CNW Telbec/ -The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce resumption of construction work in the Pointe Nord sector of Nuns' Island during the coming months.
The contractor will begin installation of signage panels in the days to come on the Bonaventure Expressway leading to downtown Montreal (A-10 West). The signage will preceed construction of a new ramp (Ramp 2) that will provide direct access between the Alexander-Graham-Bell traffic circle and the Bonaventure Expressway. The ramp used currently (Ramp J-3) will eventually lead directly to the Claude-Robutel traffic circle, to allow direct access to the Bonaventure Expressway from the two main traffic circles on the island.
To make this new direct access possible, concrete formwork to build a new viaduct (Viaduct 3) should begin at night sometime before the end of April and in May. It will necessitate complete closure of Île des Sœurs Boulevard North and South under the ramps that lead to the Bonaventure Expressway. Detours will be in place to facilitate traffic in the area.
Partial blocking of Île des Sœurs Boulevard is to be expected during the day in the upcoming weeks, in order to complete the concrete formwork begun at night.
