OTTAWA, May 12, 2017 /CNW/ - Peanut allergic consumers should be aware that lupin can potentially cause allergic reactions. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is working with Health Canada on preparing information related to the potential risk of lupin for peanut allergic consumers, which will be shared with the public by Health Canada.
In response to reported reactions from consumers, Loblaw Companies Limited has voluntarily recalled PC Blue Menu brand Buttermilk Protein Pancake Mix and Apple Cinnamon Flavour Protein Pancake Mix from the marketplace. These products contain lupin pulse flour as an ingredient. While the lupin pulse flour was correctly identified on the label, this ingredient could cause a potential reaction in consumers with peanut allergies.
