MONTREAL, Nov. 10, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Disciplinary Council of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec rendered its decision on guilt and sanction in the case of André Mathieu, who will be struck from the OIQ's roll for a period of 20 months. Mr. Mathieu was found guilty of violating several sections of the Code of Ethics of Engineers for going along with a contract sharing scheme designed to circumvent the competitive bidding process of the City of Gatineau. Mr. Mathieu's offences were committed between 2003 and 2009, while he was an engineer and Vice-President of CIMA+, a firm in Gatineau.
The full version of the Disciplinary Council's decision, including the summary of charges, is available on the OIQ's Web site. In its decision, the Disciplinary Council also ordered Mr. Mathieu to pay all costs in connection with the proceedings, including publication costs. The costs in connection with the proceedings are payable within 30 days of the decision. The sanctions imposed on Mr. Mathieu, which include being struck off the roll and paying the publication costs, are enforceable when he registers again on the OIQ's roll.
As a reminder, the sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Council are meant to protect the public by dissuading professionals from repeating offences and by setting an example for other members of the profession.
