Coop Carbone and Esplanade Launch an Incubator Dedicated to Shared Mobility in Montreal's East End

MONTREAL, May 30, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Coop Carbone and Esplanade have joined forces to launch an incubator dedicated to shared mobility.

Starting next fall, a dozen startups will be selected to design, implement, and commercialize their solutions in various areas of Montreal's east end. Participants will benefit from the Coop Carbone's expertise in shared mobility and Esplanade's entrepreneurial support, as well as the cooperation of local actors.

The project received financial support from the ministry of Economy and Innovation (MEI) through its call for projects Startup QuébecMD - dedicated to sustainable mobility projects.

For Bertrand Fouss, Director - Strategy and Business Solutions at Coop Carbone, this project represents an additional opportunity to contribute to the transportation and mobility ecosystem: "We have a solid expertise in the implementation of shared mobility projects that is inspired by an agile approach focused on prototyping. Within the incubator, startups will be equipped to better understand the main challenges that Montreal's east end is facing, such as urban logistics, vehicle sharing, or trip sharing."

For Esplanade, the launch of the incubator is the first step in the deployment of a social innovation cluster dedicated to mobility. "The complementarity of our expertise with Coop Carbone will make it possible to support startups in the development of innovative solutions with the potential to redefine territorial dynamics and support local communities in their vision of shared mobility. The participants will be guided to understand the constraints, obstacles and needs in identified areas in order to develop solutions that have a positive impact on communities while being economically viable", says Pascal Grenier, Executive Director of Esplanade.

The project will take place over two years and will include two cycles of entrepreneurial support. The first call for projects will be launched at the end of the summer 2019.
