Copeman Healthcare, Canada's Pioneer in Private Primary Care Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary
VANCOUVER, Nov. 24, 2015 /CNW/ - In 2005, Don Copeman set out with one goal in mind: to deliver unparalleled levels of patient care and preventative healthcare services.
"I want to see people get better healthcare in this country," said Don Copeman in an interview with the Toronto Star in 2005.
On November 21st of that same year, he opened the doors to a prevention focused private healthcare clinic in Vancouver; the first of its kind in Canada. The company is now celebrating their 10th anniversary as one of the leading healthcare providers in Western Canada with four clinics across Alberta and BC.
They've come a long way. The clinic initially raised concerns from government officials and public healthcare advocates, causing uproar from advocacy groups who felt this two tiered approach would harm our system, but Don Copeman knew his clinic would soon change minds and lives.
"We may be the source of controversy now, but people will look on us differently in the future," said Don Copeman in a 2006 interview.
And he was right. Over the last decade, Copeman has proven that having a care model that takes a proactive approach to healthcare actually helps to reduce the burden on taxpayers by helping people avoid expensive procedures and lifelong chronic illnesses thanks their consistent best in class health outcomes.
Copeman has also spent the last 10 years giving back to the community through various charitable donations as well as significant contributions to medical research. While primary care is their focus, the healthcare centres also act as thriving research facilities, where clinicians are not only providing patient care but also pursuing valuable medical research in the areas of hypertension, diabetes, brain health and sports medicine. Recently, the clinic was recognized by UBC's Start an Evolution Campaign for their exceptional contributions to the field of cognitive testing.
Now entering its second decade of private healthcare service, Copeman Healthcare has evolved and grown for the better, boasting a client retention rate that consistently exceeds 90%. Still based on the original goal set out by its founder so many years ago, the company has further refined their services to include regular client health seminars, a specialized children's program, a wider selection of brain health assessments and executive health workshops. They are also in the final stages of unveiling an exciting new service offering due to be released in early 2016.
The company now cares for thousands of clients in Western Canada and has plans to expand their services regionally and nationally over the next five years in order to deliver unparalleled levels of patient care and preventative healthcare services to even more Canadians.
