Memorial Service to be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. EST
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 17, 2015 /CNW/ - The Coptic community in Canada mourns the barbaric murder of 21 Egyptian Christians at the hands of ISIL in Libya. These men were labourers who left Egypt to seek employment opportunities in Libya to provide for their families. While working faithfully, they were kidnapped, tortured and eventually murdered with barbaric brutality.
The Coptic community in Canada and the Egyptian people stand in solidarity in their condemnation of these heinous acts.
We thank the Canadian and Egyptian governments for their ongoing support in these difficult times.
We pray for the families of the deceased that God may grant them peace during this difficult time. We also pray with love for those who carried out these acts that God may enlighten them and show them the path of righteousness to seek forgiveness for their atrocities to humankind.
A public memorial service and a candlelight vigil in their memory is scheduled to take place at the Canadian Coptic Centre located at 1245 Eglinton Avenue West, Mississauga, Ontario, L5V 2M4 on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. EST.
