Coptic Orthodox Community to Celebrate Historic Enthronement of His Grace Bishop Mina as Bishop of the First Diocese in Canada

MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 22, 2013 /CNW/ - The Coptic Orthodox Community will welcome the historic arrival of His Grace Bishop Mina ("His Grace") on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Pearson International Airport as the first appointed Bishop of a Diocese in Canada. His Grace was appointed by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, the 118^th Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark, and will be enthroned for the newly established diocese that includes Western Ontario and Western Canada. This new diocese will serve all Coptic Orthodox Churches in Mississauga, Oakville, Milton, Brampton, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Guelph, London, Kitchener and Windsor in Ontario as well as the Coptic Orthodox churches in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This newly established diocese currently serves over 10,000 Coptic Orthodox parishioners and includes 20 Churches that are served by 27 priests.
There will be two official celebrations for the Enthronement of His Grace.
The first will take place in the largest Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in North America located at 1245 Eglinton Avenue West, in Mississauga, on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The celebrations will continue on Sunday, April 7, 2013, with the holy liturgical celebration commencing at 8:30 a.m. This liturgical celebration is a historical event as His Grace will be accompanied by many of the fathers the Bishops from several dioceses in Egypt, the United States and the United Kingdom and will be attended by many official delegates, politicians, Church leaders and over 5,000 parishioners coming from all of western Ontario and Western Canada.
The second official celebrations for the Enthronement of His Grace will take place on the west coast on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at St George's Coptic Orthodox Church in Surrey, BC.
