The Corona Sun Beam hits the streets to extend summer
TORONTO, Aug. 29, 2014 /CNW/ - The cool, grey weather of summer 2014 has left Canadians longing for warm, sun-filled days. To extend the summer-that-wasn't, Corona is introducing the Corona Sun Beam, which, with the help of a reflector, can overcome urban architecture to bring sun to a patio that would otherwise be in shade.
"Let's face it, our weather has been less than ideal this year and a bit of extra sunshine can have a multitude of benefits like lifting spirits and recharging energy," says Kimberly Moffit, Toronto-based psychotherapist. "Patios provide an opportunity for us to relax in a social environment while making the most of the sunshine, which plays a key role in meeting our physical and mental health needs."
The Sun Beam and its 240 square foot reflector – with a raised height of 63 feet – have hit the streets to light up the lives of sun-deprived patio-goers.
"This is an opportunity for us to deliver a unique experience that elevates a beloved pastime; enjoying time with friends on the patio," says Becky Lindsey, Brand Manager, Corona. "The Corona Sun Beam provides patio lovers with the ability to kick-back, relax and find their beach."
In its first year, the Corona Sun Beam is currently activating at patios across Toronto. With the help of some geometry, the Corona Sun Beam re-directs sunshine to light up patios that would normally be in 'artificial' shade – shade that occurs because of the giant nearby buildings.
