MONTREAL, Feb. 10, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Responding to allegations published by the media accusing SNC-Lavalin's former senior executive, Riadh Ben Aissa of providing assistance to Belhassen Trabelsi, the brother-in-law of the former president of Tunisia, Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, Mr. Riadh Ben Aissa is correcting the record.
In fact, Mr. Ben Aissa has never spoken to, or met Mr. Trabelsi; he does not know Mr. Trabelsi. Moreover, at no time did Mr. Ben Aissa ever speak of Mr. Ben Ali and the latter's family's fate or their holdings to the SNC-Lavalin employee, Kebir Ratnani. Therefore, it should go without saying that Mr. Ben Aissa could not have aided Mr. Trabelsi, directly or indirectly, at any time.
Furthermore, it is important to re-iterate that Mr. Ben Aissa was not fired by SNC-Lavalin; the company's directors accepted in writing Mr. Ben Aissa's resignation, who was until his resignation an Executive Vice President and a member of the Office of the President.
Mr. Ben Aissa deplores any baseless allegations that aim only to associate his name with that of a person's whose reputation is tainted.
