Cosmo Campbell Appointed New National Chief Creative Officer Of DDB Canada
Agency's succession plan sees in-house promotion to creative team
VANCOUVER, EDMONTON, TORONTO, MONTREAL, Sept. 19, 2014 /CNW/ - David Leonard, national president and chief operating officer of DDB Canada today announced a major shift amongst the agency's creative ranks.
After a year of service to DDB Canada, Kevin Drew Davis is transferring to DDB Chicago this month to serve as SVP ECD on the McDonald's US business. "Kevin's expertise is an ideal fit for this role, and this appointment speaks to one of the benefits of operating within a global network where we can pull the right talent for the right opportunity across borders," says Leonard. "Kevin has been committed to steering DDB Canada's creative brand, and we now wish him the best on his new journey."
Filling the newly vacant CCO role in Toronto is 17-year DDB veteran and current executive creative director of DDB Canada Vancouver, Cosmo Campbell. Campbell's work at DDB has been recognized by all the major international and national award shows and he has consistently ranked among the top creatives in Canada by strategy magazine's Creative Report Card.
"Cosmo's proven senior leadership comes with an unparalleled depth in creative horsepower; he cares deeply about our people, our clients and our brand – I know he will excel in his new role as national chief creative officer," explains Leonard. "We have a heritage of cultivating in-house talent, being committed to succession planning, and promoting from within. Cosmo's new appointment builds upon this foundation."
In addition to overseeing the agency's total creative product, Campbell will also serve as a key architect on new business strategy. He will guide DDB's integrated creative teams across all disciplines nationally. His first order of business will be leading the creative team on the agency's newly acquired Volkswagen account.
"I'm eager to step into this role to build creative insights and exceptional client work," says Campbell. "While I'm sad to say goodbye to Vancouver, the chance to work more closely with our talent across Canada and lead our integrated creative product is an opportunity I could not pass up. This is an exciting time for DDB Canada."
While Cosmo Campbell and Dean Lee have served DDB's Vancouver office as executive creative co-directors for seven years, Dean Lee will now take over those reigns on a solo basis. "Dean is an exceptional creative leader who inspires his team to push boundaries, and we know his imprint in the Vancouver office will continue to strengthen our DDB brand," adds Leonard.
