Counterfeit Goods Seized From Farmer's Market
KITCHENER, ON, July 30 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, July 27th, 2010, members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) seized numerous counterfeit retail products near Keady, Ontario.
Officers of the RCMP Kitchener Detachment Federal Enforcement Section (FES) attended Keady Farmer's Market after receiving information that counterfeit retail products were being sold by various venders. Keady Farmer's Market is a long standing weekly event, operating every Tuesday morning to mid-afternoon.
While in attendance, the Officers observed and seized over three hundred counterfeit retail products. The majority of the items seized consisted of copyright infringed wallets, jewelry, sunglasses, and purses. Merchandise bearing copyrighted names, logos, or labels, that are produced and sold without the authorization of the legal copyright owner are in violation of Infringement of Copyright under Section 27 of the Copyright Act.
