CounterPath Unveils New Bria for BroadWorks Softphone with Single Identity
SMS Capability at BroadSoft Connections
Softphone users are now able to send and receive SMS messages using one number for voice and messaging across both desktop and mobile devices
"CounterPath specializes in building unified communication solutions that keep people seamlessly connected across both desktop and mobile environments. With Bria for BroadWorks with SMS and single number identity, we've made it easier than ever for softphone users to communicate with contacts who are using mobile devices and for mobile users to interact with softphone users, effectively expanding the reach of the softphone and providing even more advantages," said
Bria for BroadWorks with SMS is a feature rich, open standards-based softphone that provides VoIP and Video over IP, Instant Messaging (IM), Presence and SMS capabilities in a sleek and easy-to use interface. The SMS component of the solution is powered by CounterPath's Messaging Convergence Gateway (MCG). Bria for BroadWorks with SMS interoperates seamlessly with BroadSoft's BroadWorks(R) VoIP application platform and when deployed in conjunction with the platform, provides advanced call control capabilities, auto-provisioning and feature integration.
BroadSoft customers attending Connections 2009 can download a free licensed copy of Bria for BroadWorks with SMS, which will be provisioned to operate with a joint service offering provided by BroadSoft and CounterPath for a trial period. Once the client is activated, users can make voice calls and send and receive SMS messages to any mobile phone or landline number (on supporting devices). No matter what method of communication is used, the user will be identified by a single phone number on the receiving end. With this trial, conference attendees will have a unique opportunity to test drive a solution that provides a full mobile to desktop unified communications experience.
"We are pleased that CounterPath has created a softphone solution that is tightly integrated with our BroadWorks platform, making deployment both fast and cost-effective and integration with BroadWorks' advanced communications features seamless," said
Bria for BroadWorks with SMS will be commercially available in spring 2010. Bria for BroadWorks without SMS capability is available for purchase today at the CounterPath online store at www.counterpath.com. More information can be found on CounterPath's website or at BroadSoft's Xtended Marketplace.
