COVID-19 Pandemic - The government presents its daily update

QUÉBEC CITY, Aug. 12, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ - The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19, in the last 24 hours, in Québec show:

• 1,154 new cases, bringing the total number of people infected to 1,161,491*;
• 18 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, for a total of 16,116 deaths;
• 4,334 health care workers absent for COVID-related reasons (preventive withdrawal, isolation, awaiting results, etc.);
• 2,000 hospitalizations, including 678 due to COVID-19, for a decrease of 56 compared to the previous day;
• 123 new entries,
• 179 new discharges;
• 57 people in intensive care, including 30 due to COVID-19, for an increase of 2 compared to the previous day;
• 10 new entries,
• 8 new discharges;
• 11,928 samples conducted on August 10;
• 274,839 self-declared rapid tests so far, including 229,904 positive: 224 declared for yesterday, including 196 positive.

*Note that the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centres is restricted to priority clienteles.

Vaccination

• 10,563 doses administered are added, for a cumulative total of 20,433,004 doses received by Quebecers.

To limit the spread of the coronavirus as much as possible, it is important to follow basic preventive measures such as hand washing, physical distancing, wearing a face covering and following the instructions in effect.
